  • New approach has reduced excessive cost by implementing creation, deletion, addition and approval/rejection workflow as each VM request creation involve lot of infrastructure cost in azure.
  • The VM request can be controlled by starting required VMs, deleting and stopping idle VMs and manage provisioning requests.
  • Monitoring VM and SQL resources cost and sending mail notifications to the owners if machine is running with low usage and memory utilization.

The previous cost involved was around 9 - 10 Million USD and reducing this amount to 5 Million USD by tracking, stopping, deleting and managing idle resources results in saving around 4 Million USD. The visualization of resources with help of reports has also given so much benefit that manual work of updating and maintaining has reduced. By this single portal azure VM workflow management is done, and excessive tracking has reduced rigorous cost and efforts.
